Business visa eligibility

There is no points test for the business skills visa category, however there are a number of other criteria that must be satisfied.


To qualify for a business skills visa you must undergo an assessment based on the following criteria:

  • Your age
  • Your English language ability
  • Your business career
  • Your net personal and business assets
  • Other business/employment/investment related criteria (depending on the visa subclass you are applying under).

The entry threshold, particularly concerning age, English language ability and business turnover or assets is generally more relaxed for applicants who secure sponsorship from an Australian state or territory government. Furthermore, if you are a sponsored applicant your application will receive priority processing.

Your spouse and dependent children may also migrate with you under the same visa class provide they satisfy all health and character requirements.
